The Rubens are an Australian alternative-rock band from Menangle, New South Wales, formed in 2011 by brothers Sam, Elliott and Zaac Margin with childhood friend Scott Baldwin; bassist William Zeglis later joined the group. They broke through with their self-titled 2012 debut, but became especially well known for “Hoops,” the title track from their 2015 album, which topped triple j’s Hottest 100. “Hoops” became the song everyone knew, but the more interesting story is the one that followed: a band continuing to shift, absorbing new rhythms and textures, understanding that longevity is sometimes less about holding tightly to a sound than knowing when to let it change.Their sound started in bluesy, soulful indie rock and has gradually stretched further into pop, R&B and polished alternative production.

The Rubens return with their sixth studio album, Group Therapy. Featuring ‘Goanna’, ‘Are You Getting High’ and ‘Love Me America’, the album captures a new chapter for a band fifteen years into their story.

Recorded in The Bunker with co-producer Konstantin Kersting, Group Therapy explores themes of love, heartbreak, joy and hope, as well as the idea that music is therapy.
