Sycco is the project of 24-year-old Melbourne-based singer, writer and producer Sasha McLeod. Her J Award-winning debut Zorb - made with collaborators including Flume, Chrome Sparks and Mallrat - earned her two Hottest 100 placements, national tours with Tame Impala and Glass Animals, and championing from Spotify, Apple Music and triple j. It established her as one of Australia's most exciting new voices: a producer with a knack for psychedelic pop that hits in both the dancefloor and the bedroom.
Sycco’s second album Look Up goes deeper. Written while simultaneously falling in love and quietly unravelling, it's a record about feeling everything and not being able to say it: the yearning, the overthinking, the gap between what you feel and what you are able to say. It was only a year into making it that McLeod realised she could be depressed. "I tricked myself into thinking that what I should be feeling is how I actually feel," she says. The breakthrough came when she stopped hiding behind metaphors and let the songs be honest. "I needed that release to make all the other songs have meaning."
Recorded largely on a farm on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula with co-producer Oscar Sharah, Look Up traverses pop, soul, R&B and electronica: crystalline vocals layered over drums built from scratch, raw and transparent but still carrying that signature psychedelic flair. It's more intimate than Zorb but more unguarded too.
An album about love, distance, home and the courage to sit in the mess. This one's for her.

Impressed is so proud to present a clear vinyl repressing of Phoebe Go's 2024 album, Marmalade.
We've had the pleasure of wrapping our ears around Marmalade, and it's been a joy. If you loved Player, her 2022 EP, you're in for a treat. Also produced by Simon Lam, it's introspective, beautiful, secretive and furtive all at the same time. Full of relationship hurt and relatable beauty with eight songs that coil around your heart. Includes the singles 'Something You Were Trying', '7Up', and new single 'Leave'.
"Her songs juxtapose melancholic themes with soothing melodies. Marmalade is bittersweet, yet delicate, and filled with conscious contradictions: happy and sad; lovestruck and heartbroken; the stretching and the scarcity of time.
Why is she so attracted to the in-between? “It’s where I find that I’m getting closer to some kind of truth,” Go says. “I exist somewhere in the midst of things. I think it’s for a reason; having that less entrenched point of view actually allows me to learn more and live better.” She adds: “In the pursuit of writing a song, it opens up so much for me personally if I can live in that nuance. It’s often where I find the most moving lyric; [the lyric] that is most intrinsically me.”
‘Stupid’, her favourite song on the album, offers a case in point; it is a diamond born from discomfort. The song was unplanned and forced Go to confront her vulnerability. It also helped her to process the emotions that emerged in its wake. “It was a really important song to write and helped me get on with my life,” she says. “I feel like that was a brave thing to put out and I’m stoked about it.”
That sentiment extends to all of Marmalade. Go worked with producer Simon Lam over the course of one year, punctuated by a breakup that altered the trajectory of the album without impacting its elements of levity and warmth. Go says: “Working on the album was a real tonic because I was struggling a bit, and it meant I had something to keep pushing me forward. I felt relieved the day it came out; I felt like [I had] a weight off and like I could see things more clearly.”" PHOEBE GO FOR ELLE MAGAZINE
