Far North Queensland singer-songwriter Greta Stanley has built a career out of refusing to stay in one lane. Across indie-pop, folk, rock, electronica and, more recently, country, her songs are held together by the same thing: a startling emotional directness and a voice that can move from bruised intimacy to full-throated release. Her 2024 album If I Get In, Where Would I Go? sharpened that instinct, while the viral “Stay in Your Lane” with Bronson Diamond opened another chapter entirely. Stanley’s music feels lived-in rather than manufactured - regional, restless and quietly fearless.

On Real Love in Real Life, Greta Stanley takes the intimacy of her earlier folk writing and lets it expand - into synths, electronic pulses, piano ballads and flashes of country. Built loosely around the arc of falling in love, the record moves from uncertainty and self-doubt toward something warmer and more grounded, without pretending the path there is clean. Songs like “Plant My Feet,” “Favourite Songs” and “Keep My Cool” retain Stanley’s gift for plainspoken emotional detail, while the title track closes the record with an almost disarming sense of contentment. It’s a record about love without the mythology: messy, ordinary, anxious and, occasionally, enough.
